Our story
Heroyam was founded in 2022 to help Ukrainian refugees find jobs in The Netherlands. Over the past years, Heroyam has helped hundreds of people fleeing Ukraine with their first steps on the Dutch labour market. By doing so, Heroyam’s mission was born: the help all newcomers in The Netherlands find work in a social way. At Heroyam, we donate 100% of our profits to charities. This ensures that we invest as much money back as possible in the development of our flex workers.
Making a difference through social entrepreneurship: How Heroyam puts people before profit
At Heroyam, social entrepreneurship is at the core of our company. We strongly believe that making a positive impact on society should be an integral part of doing business. That’s why we donate 100% of our profits to good causes, and all of our temporary workers can vote on where the money goes. This not only helps us give back to the community but also ensures that we invest in our workers’ growth and development. We have set up the company in a way where making a profit is not the sole goal. Instead, we strive to contribute to society while investing in our company and workers to ensure sustainable growth.
At Heroyam, giving back to the community is at the core of our belief and we apply this by empowering our employees and by donating all our profits to charities. Here's how we do it:
- Our flex workers suggest charities they believe in.
- We carefully review and verify each charity to ensure it meets our standards and requirements.
- We create a shortlist of five charities that meet our requirements.
- We send out a survey to all of our workers asking them to vote on which charity they believe we should support.
- At the end of each quarter, we tally up the votes and donate our profits to the charity with the most votes.
Our journey so far
From heroes to hope: The origin story of Heroyam
Heroyam was founded with the mission to help Ukrainian refugees in The Netherlands find work. Today, we have expanded our services to help all refugees, asylum seekers and status holders in The Netherlands find work. The name Heroyam derives from the Ukrainian slogan ‘heroyam slava!’, meaning ‘glory to the heroes’. This name represents our commitment to recognizing the heroic journeys of refugees and asylum seekers, and empowering them through meaningful employment opportunities.
